This week, the HIA launched its top building and population hot spot report so Australia’s largest home publisher, Universal Magazines, took a look to see how active the company was with retail activity in those areas.

The result showed over 90 active retailers in 20 hot spot areas — not bad considering many of them were new suburbs. “Building hot spots are often associated with retail activity, particularly with the hardware and big box furniture stores,” said Publisher Janice Williams. “If there are retail opportunities there, then we want to be seen there too, loud and proud.”

Vic Hot Spots

Victoria performed particularly well in the HIA’s hot spot report this year. The building hot spots in Vic were:

  • Melbourne
  • Abbotsford
  • Cranbourne East
  • Docklands
  • South Morang
  • Truganina
  • Epping
  • Point Cook

Universal Magazines’ publications with the greatest exposure in these areas were Grand Designs Australia Magazine, Home Design, Kitchens & Bathrooms Quarterly, Outdoor Design & Living, Poolside, Home Renovation and of course Buildhome.
