Media Release: Universal Magazines is marketing Aussie businesses to Kiwi renovators

Universal Magazines is marketing Aussie businesses to Kiwi renovators

Australian building product advertisers are set to benefit from increased exposure to the New Zealand home renovation market, thanks to a significant increase in sales form the Universal Home Media Group in the first half of 2014 and a much friendlier tariff regime than ever before.

“We noticed it first with Kitchens & Bathrooms Quarterly, then Grand Designs Australia, Home Design and now Home Renovation,” says Mark Darton, Universal Magazines circulation manager. “There is a real increased interest in home magazines from a market that is now actively investing in construction.”

This, coupled with the fact that the Kiwi government has suspended tariffs on a broad range of AU-made building materials, adds up to quite an opportunity for Australian businesses to export to NZ.

The focus of the home renovation boom in NZ is the Canterbury region where residential construction increased by 31 per cent in the first quarter of 2014. Universal Magazines has continually increased its magazine supply to the region with each successive review since the end of 2013.

Universal Home Group

Advertisers in the AU editions of Grand Designs Australia, Home Design and Home Renovation automatically reach the NZ market when advertising.

The Universal Home Group also publishes a special NZ edition of Kitchens & Bathrooms Quarterly, which is available in NZ only and has an extended reach via supermarket chains. Other NZ magazine editions are planned soon.
